City of Newport Beach : Transportation & Development

The Transportation and Development Services Division works closely with the Building and Planning Departments to coordinate construction projects, land use, and development in the City.

Development Services includes:

Encroachment Permits - construction within the public right-of-way
Ocean Front Encroachment Permits - private encroachments along the oceanfront
Plan check review - plans submitted for review
Subdivision engineering - property lines, parcel maps, centerline ties, etc.

Traffic Engineering Services includes:

Oceanfront Boardwalk Safety - encouraging safety on multi-use trail
Temporary use of City streets- moving trucks, dumpsters, and cranes in the public right-of-way
Traffic counts [PDF] - link to OCTA volume map
Traffic engineering and planning - traffic stripping, signs and signal coordination
Traffic signal system maintenance - report a traffic signal problem
