Artist's Opportunities
The City of Newport Beach maintains three gallery spaces. The display area at City Hall has approximately 120 feet of linear wall space along the main hallway and lobby. The City’s other gallery is in the impressive Central Library at 1000 Avocado. The Library was completed in 1994 and now averages 3,000 daily visitors. The Library has approximately 38 feet of linear wall space. In 2010, two display cabinets were added to the lobby of Central Library. Artists may now apply to exhibit 3-dimensional works for this exhibition space. The display areas are approximately 24” high x 24” deep x 24” wide.
All gallery spaces are administered by the Cultural Arts Coordinator. The City Arts Commission’s Fine Arts Committee meets periodically to review artist's submissions. Artists will be notified by mail of acceptance. Art exhibitions are scheduled for at least one year in advance for all exhibit locations.
Regional artists are encouraged to submit exhibition proposals. Upon acceptance, artists exhibiting in these galleries must agree to the conditions and requirements detailed in the City’s exhibition contract (copies available from the City Cultural Arts Coordinator.) The application form below is in Adobe .pdf format and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.
