WAPDA observes Safety Day
LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) observed the official Safety Day on Monday. WAPDA Chairman Tariq Hamid told staff to use safety equipment and refuse to work on live lines even if they are told to. He said that the safety of line staff could not be compromised. He instructed officials to ensure the availability of safety equipment. The WAPDA chief said that overconfidence was one of the main causes of accidents. Carelessness not only deprives WAPDA of experienced workers, but also leaves families to suffer, he said. He said there was a need to raise awareness about the use of safety equipment. staff report
