Following several weeks of holiday after completing the fall semester, students return to LSMSA in January for Special Projects week before starting the second semester. Instead of "regular classes", students may pursue interests and activities not normally available in a high school or college class, everything from flying lessons --- to cooking or film studies --- to financial planning or international travel! Special Projects Week allows students an opportunity to work in small groups with faculty members who are pursuing their interests in various intellectual projects. Not all of these interests are strictly academic, although all have intellectual characteristics. Students often find it difficult to choose their Special Project class! A bulletin of Special Projects offerings is prepared in mid-fall and students are given a time to enroll at the end of October. Most on-campus Special Projects have no fee, but travel and some projects will include deposits and other deadlines. Successful completion of Special Projects each year is a LSMSA graduation requirement, receiving 1/4 credit, and it is a lot of fun.
