Special Events

Throughout the year, the student affairs office sponsors several special events designed to welcome new students to our academic community, to encourage active involvement in our many campus programs, and to celebrate the contributions of outstanding student leaders to the quality of life at the Louisiana School.

Our new student orientation (NSO) program is a multi-day event held at the end of the spring semester. NSO is designed to help new students and families make a successful transition to LSMSA. NSO is coordinated by the student affairs office, with the collaborative support of our counseling center, registrar's office, and faculty members.

The student affairs office coordinates one of the Louisiana School's required weekends that are held throughout the academic year. Recent required weekends have focused on developing connections between students, faculty, and staff members, as well as on fostering independent living skills in our residential living environment.

Our leadership awards ceremony recognizes students and student clubs for their accomplishments and contributions to the Louisiana School community. This annual event held at the end of the spring semester is co-sponsored with the student development center.

Eagle Traditions - Scheduled throughout the school year, these events draw inspiration from our unique residential environment, as well as from the rich academic, athletic, cultural, and geographic diversity of our student body.  Our campus traditions enrich students' Louisiana School experience and create lasting memories.

Homecoming Week - The Louisiana School celebrates homecoming every fall semester. Leading up to Friday's homecoming games, students participated in spirit week activities, including decades day and teacher day.

SLAMMT - Each spring, our students compete in SLAAMT, a multi-sport event with gifted and talented schools from Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. With competitions ranging from ultimate Frisbee to chess, SLAAMT is a great opportunity for our students to get to know other students like themselves and show their LSMSA pride.

Spring Fling - At the end of each school year, our students celebrate the completion of 36 weeks of homework, research, papers, and projects in our state’s most rigorous learning environment during Spring Fling. The residential life office provides inflatables, competitions, and music, while our food services office hosts our annual crawfish boil.
