EUROBIRD 16 (formerly HOT BIRD 4) provides Ku-band coverage of the Indian Ocean Islands.
Currently operating in inclined orbit, and designed for video, broadband and trunking services, EUROBIRD 16 is co-located with W3C and SESAT 1 at 16 degrees East, one of Eutelsat’s most long-standing orbital positions.
16 degrees East is an important
video location for satellite TV broadcasting to homes in Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and the Middle
East, as well as to islands in the Indian Ocean region. Seven pay-TV platforms and almost 500 TV channels are already broadcasting
from this orbital location.
