The W satellites are a series of telecommunications, television and multimedia satellites providing flexible coverage and bandwidth options for consumer and business services in Europe, Asia and Africa. Services include Internet, public telephony, business networks, satellite news gathering, television and radio programme broadcasting and distribution.

The satellites serve a wide range of business users, including telecommunication companies, radio and television broadcasters, international news agencies, manufacturing industry and multimedia service providers.

Major users include the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the world's largest professional association of national broadcasters. The W series is the backbone of the Eurovision and Euroradio networks for exchanging television and radio programmes internationally. Thanks to the flexible communication capabilities of the W satellites, we are all able to enjoy international sports coverage and other live events. News agencies such as Reuters, AFP and DPA also transfer their news and financial information daily via the W satellites, helping to increase our awareness of events as they happen around the globe.
