SPIRITUAL RAVISHMENT (ROM)
CHILDREN OF THE ATOM
Written by Zvetan Rachev on Tuesday 31 May, 2011. Last updated on Tuesday 31 May, 2011
Spiritual Ravishment are four guys from Oradeia, Romania, who present to the metal world their debut full-length album "Children Of The Atom". Strangely enough, the band started its career by playing black metal but at some point the style was changed into more straightforward and heavier music. In "Children Of The Atom" Spiritual Ravishment offer eight dynamic tracks of extreme metal with certain hardcore influence. What you'll hear is death metal heaviness and grindcore outbursts combined with technical melodic passages. One of the main elements in Spiritual Ravishment's music is the voice of Stancu Sebastian. This guy is able to growl, shout, scream and pig-squieal equally good. His piggish performance at the beginning of the first song "Evil Activities" is impressive. The other members of the band also know pretty well what to do with their instruments so there isn't much to be desired in terms of musicianship. I'm especially impressed by Ali Said's drumming which is tight and interesting with its various tempo changes. To me Spiritual Ravishment's sound can be compared to the death/grind madness of bands like Misery Index but with more deathcore elements. The production of "Children Of The Atom" is on a very good level (the album was recorded in Knuarr Studio in Hungary) and every instrument is clearly audible with strong and dense sound.
So "Children Of The Atom" is one pretty enjoyable album for everyone who is into the more modern currents in the extreme music scene. Show your support to those Romanian guys by visiting their label's homesite at www.myspace.com/coro_axa_valaha
