Halo: Reach - full game leaked online

Review code for Bungie epic is in the wild, say reports

The full game of Halo: Reach has reportedly been leaked online.

According to online news sources, the review code of the game was this week uploaded by Microsoft onto Xbox.com - with special access restrictions in place.

However, hackers managed to circumvent the block - and the title is now in the wild. It is unclear how widely the leaked code has been distributed, or if the hackers have made it publicly available - but spoilers have reportedly appeared on NeoGAF and other games sites.

Writing on Bungie fansite HBO, Louis Wu revealed: "Just a warning - looks like Reach is out there in the wild. This time it seems we can't blame the French; apparently, a group of modders figured out how to fool Xbox.com into allowing a download of the copies put up for some press... So if you're looking to play Reach unspoiled... now might be a good time to go dark."

Oh dear. This isn't the first time a Halo game has leaked early, either: Both Halo 2 and Halo 3 made their way onto the 'net before they hit shelves.

Halo: Reach is due for proper, above board release on September 14.

Bungie this week confirmed that series legend Master Chief would be in Reach - if only as a voice.

Sad

With the sheer amount of content in this game and the three years of work bungie have put in to make this the best halo yet, i will be proudly giviing over my 40 notes for this game on the 14th .Anyone downloading this illegally needs to be shot.
STREAM 76 on 21 Aug '10
The illegal downloaders should have been placed in front of the K&L2 billboard while it was being shot at... real blood would beat real bullet holes.

Great, now how about focusing on porting this and halo3 to the PC finally!

Xbox is cool but throw the pc a damn bone why dont you

Good to see the graphics engine has improved Wink

You call the guy an idiot who posted a video on YouTube, yet, you go and repost it yourself. Wouldn't that make you an idiot.

This game wouldn't be "leaked" if it wasn't meant to be, and if it is legitimate then someone needs to be fired after the third time this has happened.

Also, suggesting people should literally be shot for playing a highly coveted video game is a bit...much.

I would like to point out several errors in this article. First being in the text:

Writing on developer Bungie's official forum, company rep Louis Wu revealed: "Just a warning - looks like Reach is out there in the wild. This time it seems we can't blame the French; apparently, a group of modders figured out how to fool Xbox.com into allowing a download of the copies put up for some press."

First error, Louis Wu is in no way employed by Bungie, and he did not write this on the company's forum. He posted it on the fansite run by him, HBO
(halo.bungie.org) Louis Wu is not his actual name.

http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=30690

The second error being that this leak is NOT available to the general public for download, the mentioned hackers have announced they do not plan to release it.

unfortunately i have no direct quote to back up this information but it has been widely posted on other gaming sites.

Give em a break. This and Gears are the only good franchises the 360 has left. Leave it be.

@yodog

Its supposedly already made its way onto some torrent sites. Just because one set of hackers said they won't doesn't mean anything. They are hackers that pirated the game, therefore they're scum.

You wouldn't steal a handbag.
You wouldn't steal a car.
You wouldn't rape an animal of an endangered species.
So I suppose you wouldn't download Halo: Reach, if you've managed to say no to the much more fun alternatives above.
Tommykrem on 22 Aug '10
They should have not put it up, any DMR can be hacked. its like most things if its not nailed down they will steal it

There's hope for Awake, and Crackdown, and if ME3 is not on the PS3. Isn't Left 4 Dead only the 360 too?
Nomad089 on 22 Aug '10
Focker, if you're gonna moan about gears and halo being the only exclusives the 360 has left, at least throw in the fable series as well.
There are plenty of fans of that series you know(me included).

I know you can play fable 3 on the pc, but you can't play it on the ps3(it's a console exclusive).
As are crackdown and Alan wake.

And before you say crackdown is rubbish, i think you'll find it has a lot of fans thank you very much.
I'd rather play that than the title you've mentioned many a time before(3d dot heroes).
That game was a pants zelda ripoff Wink

Exactly Blagger. Plus with the next wave of Xbox software, Kinect, comes Child of Eden and other promising titles

is the multiplayer there, if not it is not worth it, who buys halo for it's story?

yup,here you go...i'm one

don't actually like Multiplayer on the Halo series...and Reach is the part of the Halo story, that i really want to know....kinda like Star Wars episode 3
metallicorphan on 22 Aug '10

1. Quite a lot of people, most people who buy the game

2. There is also Firefight and Forge

3. Halo is one of very few shooters with a deep story and big open environments
Nomad089 on 22 Aug '10
A friend of mine already has it dled. lol..
eye.of.despair on 22 Aug '10
I know guys, I was just pullin your chain.

By the way 'console exclusive' is the most retarded defense ever. It is pretty gay for the PC guys though. MS did the same thing to Halo that they did with Alan Wake. Pulled the development off of PC cause they were desperately in need of an 'actual' exclusive, not just another 'console' exclusive.
Focker420 on 22 Aug '10
its the 3rd time a highly anticipated game has been hacked and leaked? yer right, builds up the hype of peopel claiming to have played it and just makes peopel look forward to it even more.
its probably Bungie leaking the videos anyways
