According to Greg Hart, vice president of video games and software at Amazon, the idea was to "expand the reach of the Xbox Live digital platform to millions of Amazon customers." The same customers who will need direct access to Xbox Live via their console to redeem the codes anyway? Erm...
Someone at Amazon, it seems, came to their senses: "We are no longer selling Xbox LIVE arcade game codes on Amazon.com," it now says on the site. "You can continue to purchase Xbox LIVE points on Amazon.com and those points can be redeemed through your Xbox 360 console to purchase any of the games that were previously available."
So now you'll have to make do with the more efficient method of buying games directly from the very capable Xbox Live system. Life sucks, doesn't it?
If the games had been cheaper via doing this then it would have made more sense, like here where you can buy a Connect 4 code for Family Game Night for £2.95 (UK & EU tags only). And at 800MSP that's £3.90 cheaper! (800MSP=£6.85).
Shame it's the only one though, but guess if someone else is up for getting it too I'd have someone to play it with, not that I was ever any good at Connect 4
Wow @Moribundman, you managed to turn this into an Xbox vs PS3 thread.
Personally, I will use the console that has the games I want to play on it. I can't see myself creating a schedule when I'm going to mothball a console because of what might or might not happen at some vague point in the future
