Digital distribution comprises of the use of digital technology to circulate and exhibit films. The world of digital distribution is different to that of HD video. It does not refer to the distribution of digital films, but a whole new method of distribution itself.
This method involves transferring cinematic material onto digital formats such as DVD, and exhibiting them through digital projectors. These changes seem attractive to most distributors in terms of costs, how cinema chains are hesitant to invest the money into installing the new projectors.
Digital distribution will open up exciting avenues to the different types of material that could potentially be programmed for a crowd. #11. Already, ideas such as screenings of live sports, the Oscars, or the Olympic Games. Events from all around the world could be screened in cinemas through satellite delivery to digital projectors.
According to vice-president of Universal Pictures digital distribution and exhibition of film will keep cinema owners in line to competing with home digital technology, and movie goers will once again be satisfied. #12 |
