Film description

Man Of Steel sees 300 and Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder offer a fresh take on the ultimate superhero: the man of steel himself, Superman.

And with The Dark Knight team of Christopher Nolan and David S Goyer on production and writing duties, this is Warner Bros attempt to update the big blue boy scout for the 21st century following the middling Superman Returns.

Man Of Steel will have Immortals' Henry Cavill square up against Machine Gun Preacher's Michael Shannon as General Zod as he seeks to protect his adoptive planet. Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner will be on hand to provide fatherly advice as Jor El and Jonathon Kent respectively while The Muppets' Amy Adams serves as Superman's love interest - the feisty reporter Lois Lane.

So far we've had the official plot synopsis, the release of the banner image and the inevitable fanboy posturing over changes to Superman's outfit.

The first official footage is expected to be unveiled at Comic-Con 2012, so stay tuned to our Comic-Con hub to ensure you don't miss a thing.

No...... no they did not John. Only thing I can hope is that this movie ends up being what "Superman Returns" wanted to be. I would hate if they ended up in the same category as those movies I had in mind when writing "A Call To Arms...Sort of" on Hub Pages. It would truly, truly suck
