Epic new Man Of Steel trailer: watch now

"Goodbye my son"

Man Of Steel has released a brand new trailer online, and it may just be the most epic couple of minutes you'll see this year! Until the film itself flies into cinemas, that is…

Heroism is very much the theme of the day in the new trailer, showing both Jor-El  (Russell Crowe) and Pa Kent (Kevin Costner) urging young Clark (Henry Cavill) that it's his responsibility to be a role model for humankind.

Understandably, this is quite the ask of a young boy, but he soon begins to grow into the role before eventually donning the famous blue suit. By which point, you'll pretty much be jumping out of your seat and punching the air.

Take a look, below:

It's a bold move to make a Superman trailer (relatively) light on action, but the real objective here is to sell Supes as a vulnerable yet inspirational character rather than a musclebound archetype. And we'd say on that score, it's a roaring success.

Directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan and co-starring Amy Adams, Michael Shannon and Laurence Fishburne, Man Of Steel will open in the UK on June 14 2013.

i'm most impressed with the burst of Hans Zimmer's score, for me he's got the biggest boots to fill, and the indications are good.

Wow. This looks to be the film to beat this year. I've recently re-watched Superman 1 & 2 and thought that the new one had a lot to live up to. Tonally, i think they've got it correct. Supes is the one hero who deserves to have an 'epic' style film. As stated in an earlier comment though, Zimmer has a lot to live up to with the score. Wasn't overly impressed by the one used in the trailer, but will have to wait and and see. Even more stoked for this now.

Interesting that there's also no shot of the 'classic' Clark Kent, i.e, with the glasses. Is Snyder going to try and introduce a 'clever' way to get around the arguments that people should still recognise him? There was a shot in one of the early teasers that showed what we assumed was Clark walking into the Daily Planet - i reckon this is going to be the last shot of the film and will be the first time we see 'Classic Clark'.

Great comment from Youtube: "The awkward moment when your real father is Robin Hood (2010) and your adopted father is Robin Hood (1991)"

I think they might be inspired by the comic "birthright" which sees clark travel the world while coming to terms with his faith. Each time he uses his powers people fear him and he must move on. These super-events leave a trail of rumors which is picked up by Lois. She is determined to find out if the legends are true. This seems to be the case in the movie as well. We hear Amy say something about tracking someone who has spent his whole life covering his tracks, and who has been a ghost to some and a saviour to others. Hope I'm right, because I've always thought this was a great way of presenting his way from clark to hero.

@Martinsvennaes - seconded. I thought Birthright would make an excellent movie. Hope they use that as a template.

I've not heard of Birthright but that's exactly what I thought would happen from what Lois said and the shot of him saving people all bearded!
