Approximately 71 raids were carried out in markets and various road checkpoints, including Clara, Mad Cow, Drogheda, Balbriggan, Kildare, Kart City, Fairyhouse, Santry, Carrick on Shannon, Limerick, Unyoke (Wexford), Cookstown, Long Mile Road and Athy as well as National Ploughing Championships, Puck Fair and Galway Races.

18,200 CDs and 83,300 DVDs were seized in 2008.

A total of 189 CD/DVD burners, 23 printers as well as 16 photocopiers/scanners were seized.

We continuously check car boot sales, markets, summer festivals and city streets for pirate sellers. Warrants are obtained wherever necessary. For certain summer festivals we obtain warrants in advance. No music piracy has been observed on the Dublin streets in the last couple of years.

There were 4 convictions for breach of copyright in the District Courts. Penalties ranged from fines of €200 to €15,000 over the last number of years and from 6 to 12 months prison sentences.
