Piracy Report |
RAIDS |
Raids in 2004 were carried out in Drogheda, Inch, Kart
City, Balbriggan, Clara, Fairyhouse, Windsor, Long Mile
Road, Kildare and Mountrath markets.

SEIZURES |
38,085 CDRs and 380 cassettes were seized in 2004 (compared
to 18,822 CDRs and 1,098 cassettes in 2003).
A total of 157 CD/DVD burners were seized, as well as
6 scanner/printer combinations, 7 printers and a photocopier
(compared to 60 burners and 8 printer/scanner combinations
in 2003).

MARKETS, SUMMER FESTIVALS
AND STREET MONITORING |
We continuously check car boot sales, Sunday markets,
summer festivals and city streets for pirate sellers.
Warrants are obtained wherever necessary. For certain
summer festivals, we obtain warrants in advance. No
music piracy has been observed on the Dublin streets
in the last couple of years.

COURT CASES |
There were 5 convictions for breach of copyright in
the District Courts. Penalties ranged from fines of
€500 to €15,000 to 3 months prison sentence
suspended for 2 years
