Piracy Report |
RAIDS |
Approximately 122 Raids were carried out in markets,
including Clara, Mad Cow, Drogheda, Balbriggan, Kildare,
Kart City, Fairyhouse, Santry, Carrick on Shannon, Limerick,
Unyoke (Wexford) as well as Puck Fair and Galway races.

SEIZURES |
20,000 CDRs and 60,000 DVDs were seized in 2006.
A total of 195 CD/DVD burners as well as 8 photocopiers,
28 printers and 5 scanners were seized (compared to
185 burners, 3 scanner/printer combinations, 34 printers
and 2 scanners in 2005.)

MARKETS, SUMMER FESTIVALS
AND STREET MONITORING |
We continuously check car boot sales, markets, summer
festivals and city streets for pirate sellers. Warrants
are obtained wherever necessary. For certain summer
festivals, we obtain warrants in advance. No music piracy
has been observed on the Dublin streets in the last
couple of years.

COURT CASES |
There were 4 convictions for breach of copyright in
the District Courts. Penalties ranged from fines of
€700 to €2,000 to a 9 months prison sentence.
