Open a URL in Chrome for iOS using Mobile Safari

One downside to iOS is the fact you can't set default apps for various actions. This problem was once again pushed into the spotlight last week when Google released Chrome for iOS. Users of Chrome on iOS are not able to set the popular browser as the default browser on their iPhone or iPad. It's frustrating to say the least.

Until Apple decides to add (if it ever does) a default app functionality, users will have to rely on workarounds. One such workaround allows users to open URLs being viewed in Mobile Safari in Chrome for iOS thanks to Jon Abrams.more

Google just wrapped up the second keynote in as many days at Google I/O 2012. Today's event was focused solely on Chrome and Apps and brought some great news to iOS users (how ironic) who are fans of Google's Drive and Chrome products.

Both Google Drive and Google Chrome are now officially available for iOS devices running iOS 4.3 and above.

Google brought its popular Incognito features to the iOS version of Chrome, along with many more features we won't go into here. Incognito mode, as we showed you on the Android version, allows you more

Save maps for offline use in Google Maps for Android

Save maps for offline use in Google Maps for Android

Shortly after the Google I/O keynote yesterday, Google rolled out a list of app updates, one of which was an update to Google Maps. In the update, Google enabled the ability to save a section of a map for offline access. This is a great feature when you are traveling in an area with spotty coverage.

To save an area, launch Google Maps and tap on the menu key. Select Make Available Offline from the menu and then narrow down the area you want to save. You'll want to make sure you do this in advance and when more

How to unjailbreak your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

Jailbreaking isn't for everyone. Cydia is quick to overwhelm even the tech-savvy user, and upgrading iOS software on a jailbroken device can be a headache-inducing process.

Whether you've discovered that jailbreaking isn't for you, or you need to take your iDevice to the Genius Bar for repair, you'll need to unjailbreak your device.

There are plenty of forums, blog posts, and YouTube videos that attempt to guide you through this process. Many are outdated, and, in some cases, incorrect.

So, to find the proper way to unjailbreak an iDevice, I went to the source. Nikias Bassen, more

There were some changes brought to the Google Play Store as well. One of the changes wasn't even mentioned during the keynote -- the ability to update or uninstall apps on your Android device, directly from the Google Play Web site. A small feature, but one that is sure to come in handy to many users. Here's how it works.

Schedule your day with free task manager 30/30

As a freelance writer, I need all the help I can get to stay on target. I don't have a boss who might suddenly appear, looming over my shoulder, wondering why I'm on Facebook. I don't have co-workers who are depending on me to finish my part of a larger project. It's just me and the Internet, with deadlines to hit and monthly quotas to fill.

I began using the Pomodoro Technique, which has you working for 20- or 25-minute blocks and then taking a 5- or 10-minute break. It has helped me stay focused for more

'Tis the season to get the heck out of doors. Even a short jaunt to the beach for a little sun and sea worship or to the woods for a day hike requires a little planning. Here are a handful of iPad apps that smooth out your travel prep.

(Note that several of these programs have versions for the iPhone and other smartphones, but I tried them out on an iPad. The larger iPad screen is much easier to work with on the road.)
