HERITAGE
- HYDERABAD CITY |
|
|
|
|
|
Hyderabad has a rich heritage.
This heritage is in the form of Monuments, Buildings,
Rocks , Gardens, Lakes, Art, Culture, Festivale
etc.
The five hundred
year old legacy of Golconda-Hyderabad continues
to live through its historical buildings, monuments
and natural landscapes. These include the ruins
at the Golconda fort, palaces, temples, mosques
and public buildings surviving from the eighteenth
and nineteenth centuries and also the twentieth
century buildings ranging from the Andhra pradesh
High Court facing the river Musi, to the small
houses in vernacular style along lanes and bylanes
of old hyderabad.
According to a sample survey completed by HUDA
in 1985 about seventy percent of Hyderabad’s
historical buildings are privately owned. Nearly
ninety percent or them are in use. The remaining
ten percent are arches, gateways or clock towers
where the question of conventional use does
not arise. Old buildings in use include very
well maintained clubs and offices and also buildings
in poor condition, due to inability of owners
to carry out proper maintenance.
Suitable re-use is the key to maintenance and
conservation of old structures. This heritage
award is therefore introduced to encourage such
adaptive reuse of old structures.
As a part of Heritage awareness Programme
, teachers training camps were held . Heritage
clubs are being established in schools .
