Rolling Stone BRIAN JONES DIED (1969) as did legendary Doors vocalist JIM MORRISON (1971 ), and Charlotte Nilsson peaked at No. 20 with her Eurovision winner ‘TAKE ME TO YOUR HEAVEN’ (1999).

The spiritual home of the flower children generation, The Fillmore West in San Francisco, closed it’s doors for the last time (1971), and The Age Of Love peaked at No. 17 with ‘The Age Of Love’ (1997).

MICHAEL JACKSON announced that he would give all the money he earned from the Jacksons’ Victory tour to a CHILDREN’S CHARITY (1984) and Topol entered the Top 10 with ‘IF I WERE A RICH MAN’ (1969).

Fourteen year old Paul McCartney met 16-year-old John Lennon for the first time (1957) and exactly seven years later The Beatles debut film ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ was given a royal premiere (1964).

Hit for six- Olivia Newton-John peaked at No. 6 with ‘SAM’ (1977), seven years after her old mentor, Cliff Richard, slipped from his No.6 peak with ‘GOODBYE SAM, Hello Samantha’ (1970).

Teen toppers – 14-YEAR-OLD Donny Osmond headed the chart with his version of ‘Puppy Love’(1972) (an earlier hit for 18-YEAR OLD Paul Anka), and 16-YEAR OLD Glenn Medeiros hit No. 1 with ‘Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You’ (1988).

Tab Hunter (81), Bonnie Pointer (Pointer Sisters) (61), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus)(55), Ritchie Sambora (Bon Jovi) (53) and Lil’ Kim (36) CELEBRATE THEIR BIRTHDAYS, and Lesley Gore peaked at No. 9 with ‘IT’S MY PARTY’ (1963).

Elvis Presley signed his first recording contract with the Sun label (1954) and exactly three years later scored his first UK. No. 1 with ‘All Shook Up’ (1957).

The Bob Geldof inspired all-star ‘LIVE AID’ show took place (1985) and Shalamar scored their biggest hit when ‘A NIGHT TO REMEMBER’ peaked at No. 5 (1982).

Cream announced they were SPLITTING (1968) and The Everly Brothers did the same (1973) while The Partridge Family entered the Top 20 with ‘BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO’ (1972).

ELTON JOHN BROKE A RECORD held by The Beatles when ‘The One’ became his 50th US Top 40 entry (1992) and The Four Preps peaked at No. 2 with ‘BIG MAN’ (1958).

Youthful film star MIA FARROW MARRIED Ol’ Blue Eyes, FRANK SINATRA (1966) and the re-issue of ‘YOUNG GIRL’ peaked at No 6 in 1974 by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap (1974)

BEASTIE BOYS FANS were charged with stealing Volkswagen emblems from cars to make them look more like their idols (1987) and The Spice Girls entered the Top 10 for the first time with ‘WANNABE’ (1996).

The first men LANDED ON THE MOON (1969) and Coolio made his chart debut with ‘FANTASTIC VOYAGE’ (1994).
