Philip Langridge

Philip Langridge's musical and dramatic qualities ensure that he is in constant demand throughout Europe, the USA, and Japan as one of the world's most distinguished singers. He is particularly closely associated with the Salzburg Festival, the Met, La Scala Milan, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, Edinburgh Festival and English National Opera.

He has appeared in concert with leading conductors such as Abbado, Barenboim, Bychkov, Davis, Gergiev, Haitink, Harnoncourt, Levine, Mackerras, Mehta, Ozawa, Previn, Rattle and Solti.

His remarkable discography has gained him two Grammy Awards, The Gramophone Award, Classic CD Award, and Classical Music Award. Future engagements include Das Rheingold and Moses and Aron at the Met, a new Ring Cycle, and Nozze di Figaro at the ROH, Boris Godunov in Barcelona, Death in Venice in Sydney and Idomeneo in Salzburg.

He has given acclaimed masterclasses in Salzburg, Paris, Munich, New York, London (where he is Visiting Professor at the RCM) Glasgow and Aldeburgh. He was made a CBE in 1994.
