Gyorgy Pauk

Gyorgy Pauk left his native Hungary in 1956 and has since achieved worldwide success with a reputation as one of the foremost violinists of our day. He works with the world's leading conductors including: Dutoit, Haitink, Maazel, Rattle, Boles, Rozhdestvensky, Solti and Tennstedt.

He has an exceptionally wide repertoire including many 20th century masterpieces. He has premiered works by Lutoslawski, Penderecki, Schnittke, Maxwell Davies and Tippett under the baton of the composers themselves. His initial recording of the complete Bartok cycle was voted Record of the Month in Gramophone Magazine, and was nominated for a Grammy Award.

He is Professor of Violin at the Royal Academy in London and gives masterclasses throughout the world. He sits on the juries of the Indianapolis, Carl Flesch, Hannover and Tokyo international violin competitions.
