Information

Nintendo started their long path into technology-driven consumer entertainment in 1973 with the opening of the first light-gun shooting range. The venture was a success, and over the next few years Nintendo worked on a number of arcade light-gun games as well as home consumer electronics (the Color TV Game systems). Nintendo released their first sprite-based videogame in 1978, but they didn't see major gains from the medium until 1981 with the release of Donkey Kong. The game changed Nintendo's fortunes drastically, giving the company a foot into the US market as well as a selection of marketable characters. However, with the success of their home consoles and handhelds, Nintendo has released no more than a handful of arcade games since 1990.

Note: Please do not send information on the Playchoice or Super System arcades. I have information on these already, and may add it to the site in the future.

PlayChoice Games

The PlayChoice was an arcade machine that had a selection of interchangable NES titles available. The most common of these machines was the PlayChoice-10 that allowed up to 10 NES games to be selected. The player paid for a fixed time limit and could play as many games as they wanted within that time limit.

The following list only contains Nintendo titles, although third party games were also available. Links in the following list will take you to the NES game page.

Super System Games

Like the PlayChoice, the Super System featured interchangable carts, but this time for SNES titles. The system had significantly fewer titles available for it.
