Located in North Carolina's technology-focused Research Triangle
area, Duke Law School has established itself as one of the leading
law schools in the nation. We've assembled a world-class faculty,
one with international visibility that nonetheless remains readily
accessible to students. We continue to push the boundaries of a
quality legal education through the innovative use of technology
in the classroom, and through cutting-edge programs
and interdisciplinary centers that promote scholarship and research.
We were among the first law schools in the country to integrate
international programs
throughout our curriculum. Underscoring our commitment to interdisciplinary
study, we offer 19 academic
and joint-degree programs and a range of clinical
course offerings in business law, children's education law,
death penalty law, international and comparative law and AIDS law.
The Duke Law experience is intellectually demanding. It is also
personally challenging. Duke is an ambitious law school that seeks
out and encourages ambitious students. It is a place for thinkers
- insightful, independent thinkers who recognize the significant
role they play in their own educational experience. And it is a
place for those interested in what they will bring to the law as
well as in what they will take away from it.
The mission of Duke Law School is to prepare students for responsible
and productive lives in the legal profession. We train our students
to be excellent lawyers, equipped for any number of different careers,
and committed to the values of hard work, integrity, personal responsibility,
civility, tolerance, respect and service. The Law School also provides
leadership at national and international levels in efforts to improve
the law and legal institutions through teaching, research and other
forms of public service.
The Duke Law community is strong because of the commitment by faculty
and students to challenge and engage one another. Thanks to our
relatively small size, each individual can - and is expected to
- make an impact. The Law School provides the instruction and resources;
as students use these tools to shape their intellectual paths and
future legal careers, they are also defining the character of the
Law School community. We invite you to learn more about our community
and encourage you to apply.
