Etrian Odyssey IV's battle music makes me want to play it

We noted a couple months back that composer Yuzo Koshiro had dumped the retro-flavored FM synthesis that he employed for past Etrian Odyssey titles in favor of a live recorded soundtrack featuring everything from woodwinds and brass to strings and live percussion. There were three samples up on the game's website at that time, but there's something new if you check now.

Not only are the three previous samples elongated to their entire length, but there's a fourth a sample, a battle theme, that takes a more energetic approach with brass, electric guitar, and percussion. Recording director Norihiko Hibino has told us that the entire soundtrack will be getting the live treatment and that "a lot of music was recorded for the game," as in multiple discs worth. The soundtrack is currently available for pre-order from CD Japan and is set to ship on July 25 for 3,360 Yen ($40).

So, are you a believer yet? Are you willing to give up on Koshiro's tasty FM works in favor of this big live sound? I know I am. And when the hell is this game going to be announced for North America?

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

I'm sure USA will localize it since they've done the other three, but I think it's going to be next year because it looks like this year is finalized.

I think Gungnir just released, Game of Throbes before that there's Growlanser, Persona 4 Arena and Golden and then Code of Princess. Quite a bit.

Let's just hope it doesn't get passed over. I want it as much as SMTIV and Soul Hackers.
Fricking smartphone
The given link doesn't work, but "sq4.atlusnet.jp/" removing the http:// allows it.
Chrome seems to add it to the paste function automatically.

But the music is fantastic, and I could not be more excited for this release!
This is GOTY material right here. That is, if it gets localized by the end of the year.
Also, dat new Gunblade wielding class- HNNNNNNNNNNNG
If this game hits North America, it might just be excuse enough to move on to a modern Nintendo handheld at long last.

A difficult dungeon crawler game with a Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack which has beast people among the selectable races? There is nothing about that description that makes me want to pass on this game.
Maybe it'll let you switch between this version and an FM synth version? I really liked the FM soundtracks.
Looks like furry hell
Dark Spire did the same thing for me too. Same dev, as well.
Mmmm...J-furries...
@the silent protagonist

This game is coming out in july (japan) and will be out in the US around October-November. No this game wont get passed since Soul Hackers will beout in october (Japan (early 2013 for US)) and SMTIV still has no release date.
@ShawnKelfonne: No FM synthesis whatsoever unfortunately.
This music sounds great. Now, I just need to get a 3DS. I don't think I can live without playing this.
Man, going to the website just reminds me of how much I love the character designs for the EO games, which makes it all the sadder that I am completely incapable of playing them. I can handle most SMT games given enough time, patience, and furious screaming at the wall. I found Dark Soul's difficulty to be a bit overrated. But the EO type of difficulty is just something I'm not accustomed to.
@Jayson: That's unfortunate. I always considered the FM synth to be part of the series. Then again, they're moving to polygonal battle models for enemies now too, aren't they?
I hope you like the song because if you play EO:4 you will listen to it 1000000 times.
Someone just masturbated to that picture.
Announce this game in North America now please. Thank you.
