Anyone that has a Wii U can tell you how much the battery life of the GamePad sucks. You'll get three hours if you're lucky, but it's usually less than that. Flip over the GamePad and open the battery port and you'll be surprised at what you see. I know I was when Nyko showed me at a CES meeting today.
The standard Nintendo Wii U GamePad battery takes up only about a third of the space of the battery compartment! What the hell, Nintendo? Nyko saw an opportunity and created their Power Pak, which completely fills up that compartment to give you up to three times the battery life of the standard battery. Simply unplug the Wii U battery and replace it with the PowerPak for 10 or more hours of battery life.
And if you're somehow scared of unscrewing the battery compartment of the Wii U GamePad, Nyko also has their U Boost, which simply attaches to the back of the GamePad with a thumbscrew. Its on-board battery manages to double the battery life of the GamePad, and a pop-out kickstand lets you prop it up to watch video content. It also fits into the Wii U charging dock.
Both the Power Pak and U Boost will be available next month for $24.99.
