Bravely Default's unexpected composer and music tie-ins

Bravely Default's unexpected composer and music tie-ins photo

I've had my eyes and ears on Bravely Default since it was teased last year. I was wondering who would be handling the music, and assumed it would be Square Enix's Naoshi Mizuta based on his fantasy scores for Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy Legends. As it turns out, however, Square Enix is outsourcing composition duties to Revo, the head of the popular Sound Horizon music team in Japan.

In addition to the soundtrack disc being included with the collector's edition of the game, however, Revo will be creating a special group called Linked Horizon consisting over over 54 different musicians (including the progressive rocker Motoi Sakuraba of Tales, Star Ocean, and Dark Souls fame) to create pieces inspired by the world of Bravely Default. There are several versions of the Linked Horizon CD being produced, including a limited edition with a packed-in DVD and a Bravely Default-branded version with artwork from the game (as you can see above, the cover for the other edition is... well, silly).

Normally I'd probably pass on this rock band tie-in to the game, but with Motoi Sakuraba on keyboards, I'm certainly a lot more interested.

Are you looking forward to announcements regarding Bravely Default outside of Japan, and will you be hoping to see a more generalized soundtrack release separate from the collector's edition of the game?

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)

I want to know if and when this is coming to US :(
The music for this game sounds really good so far. Check out videos of the demos on youtube. Going with this Revo-guy was a good decision for Square Enix.

They seem to be putting a lot of effort and resources into this game, and I hope it pays off, because the game is looking incredible so far.
Motoi Sakuraba does a thing? I'm interested.
i want this in english pronto
I'm always down for hearing someone new. I haven't heard Revo before. I'm not a fan of Sakuraba either.

Hope this gets localized though.
I am a big fan of Sakuraba. My favorite of his is actually Baten Kaitos. the song "House of Cards" is fantastic
