Way of the Shenmue: Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris QTE

Tony Ponce, Associate Editor

Hey. It's late on a Tuesday night. We're about to enter the mid-week hump. It's time for some f*ckin' kung fu action up in here, am I right?

Here is a very simple yet effective video from José Cardona. He though to himself, "What if one of the best martial arts movies of all time could be played like Shenmue?" So he pulled the legendary Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris scene from Way of the Dragon, slapped some QTE prompts up there, then filmed an accompanying video of him "playing" the game on a Dreamcast controller. When José hits the buttons properly, Chuck gets kicked in the face. When he doesn't, Bruce gets kicked in the face. Perfect.

Not an elaborate video by any means, but really, what's to complain about? It's muthafuggin' Bruce Lee fighting muthafuggin' Chuck Norris. Tell me this isn't the highlight of your evening!

This video is so bad it's actually bad. Although ironically enough I was playing Metal Gear Solid 4 today and I came up with CQC QTE.

You can thank me later.
Shenmue III: The Way of the Intercepting Fist
You should watch my Dragonball Evolution Re-Edit. It's riddled with QTEs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3QJpVfBd-8 and done better than this guy's, IMO.

My bbcfu is shameful. Prease forgive me, sensei. When are we getting that Disqus upgrade, again?
jajajajajaja Jose Cardona is the king of Youtube videos
The biggest thing that people don't understand about this fight, if they haven't watch Lee's movies, is that Lee's character is getting beat at the start until he goes into his "unconventional" free form stance. Norris' character then cannot read the movements of the feet and hands. The fight is basically over at that point, because Lee never gets touched again.

This is the cornerstone of Lee's Jeet Kun Do. Lee felt very strongly about being adaptive, free flowing, and not stuck in a rigid style that can be predicted.
Soulcage: Once Bruce came to the states, he was immediately exposed to many different forms of martial arts, from grappling with Gene L. to boxing, (where he got a huge chunk of his footwork from). Bruce was really forward thinking, breaking away somewhat from traditional kung fu concepts and Wing Chung trapping techniques, and incorporating a the more fluid zoning and angle creation of boxing and reducing kicks/needless/inefficient movement. Even in the clip, he was showcasing the power of leg kicks for the purpose of zoning for mid-range striking(boxing), and for closing in for trapping. Dude was freaking brilliant.

Raven's Cry has pirates that don't act like bilge rats
