Sheffield Theatres is renowned as one of the country’s leading producing theatre venues. It comprises: the Crucible Theatre, Studio and Lyceum, making up the largest UK theatre complex outside London. Sheffield Theatres produces a wide range of work from new plays to classic dramas, musical and dance theatre projects. The Crucible Theatre reopened in March 2010 following a major refurbishment, under the new artistic directorship of acclaimed actor
Daniel Evans.

Creative Development is the name currently given to the Sheffield Theatres department that enables development of new work, training and participatory opportunities as part of our wider programme. The department is headed by Creative Producer, Andrew Loretto, appointed in October 2010. He is currently working with the team to put in place a range of bold new projects that will engage our local artists, young people and communities. Many of these new initiatives will premiere in autumn 2011 to tie in with the Crucible Theatre’s 40th Birthday.
