Background Information

The pack will contain information on the play itself such as plot, background, characters, historical setting, playwright and themes - as well as including useful links to further websites.

Production Focus

Each Production Insight on this website is focussed on a different play produced and created by Sheffield Theatres for performance on our stages or for touring into schools. You will have the opportunity to learn about the decisions made by the creative teams working on each production and find out how we make each play. The resources often include interviews with the director, designer and members of cast as well as drawings and photographs of costume, set and lighting designs with detailed information as to how these elements of the production come to life.

Rehearsal Diary

The pack often includes a Rehearsal Diary where we concentrate on one scene so that you are given as much information and detail as possible. For example, if you click on the main menu of the pack (down the left hand side) you might be able to read an interview with actors who perform in the scene (Actors Interviews); look at the process of design and creation of one of the costumes (Costume); and read how the scene is progressing in rehearsals (Rehearsal Diary). This scene will often be the focus of our Page to Stage workshops on the Crucible Stage.

Teaching Resources

These are made up of a variety of drama activities. Some of these are practical and others involve thinking and discussion. Where appropriate, the tasks are separated into GCSE and A/AS level questions or Key Stage areas are indicated. Tasks are linked to each section of the website.
