Chelsea have reportedly been putting together a new two year deal for Drogba, who has established himself as one of the best forwards in the world since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2004

However, according to the Italian press, Serie A champions Milan could be ready to test Chelsea’s resolve with a £10million bid, and are lining up Manchester City striker Adebayor if that bid fails.

Milan’s sporting director Adriano Galliano met with the club’s owner Silvio Berlusconi to discuss a list of possible transfer targets and both Drogba and Adebayor were top priorities.

And despite Drobga’s age – 33 – Milan are believed to be prepared to bid as much as £11 million to secure his services.

The Ivorian displaced £50m signing Fernando Torres in the starting line up at the end of last season and it could be more likely that Nicolas Anelka is sold by the Blues this summer.

Drogba’s Stamford Bridge future may become clearer once the club have appointed a successor to manager Carlo Ancelotti, who was sacked on the final day of the season last month.

Turkey boss Guus Hiddink has been strongly linked with the role but last night claimed there has been no contact from Stamford Bridge.
