About

Vivendi Mobile Entertainment was founded as a 100% subsidiary of Vivendi in 2007, tasked with becoming a leader in mobile-centric entertainment B2C services. Its innovative subscription service, branded zaOza, was launched in France in 2008.

Vivendi Mobile Entertainment (VME) was founded as a Vivendi subsidiary around professionals with track records in the internet, mobile, media and entertainment industries.

The mission of VME is to generate an entertaining distribution channel for digital content, ranging initially from mobile-centric games to music, pictures, videos and applications. VME is mandated to exploit both the content from Vivendi groups’ entities and content from other major entertainment groups. At the same time, VME co-operates with a large number of independent players and produces even some content itself. The attractiveness of digital content is maximised by offering true value-for-money subscriptions, which at the same time create a direct relationship with the consumer.

Consumers want to stay in touch with friends. Talking about and exchanging music, photos, videos and games is now more than ever part of their daily communication. While consumers would be thrilled to use their beloved mobile phone to exchange such content, this is still complex due to numerous formats and devices, limited storage space and expensive data charges.

The challenge for VME is to drive the growth of the mobile entertainment market and at the same time to create a device-agnostic entertainment exchange experience for consumers.

VME developed an innovative subscription service that creates an excellent experience for consumers: subscribers can explore and download great digital content to mobile phones and PCs, and exchange the acquired content seamlessly with their friends.

The first version of the service was launched in France in 2008 under the new, award-winning brand zaOza with an equally award-winning communication campaign. zaOza enjoys excellent brand awareness in France among the target groups. With already more than 350,000 registered members, zaOza is the leading mobile community in France now. The next goal is to become the leading mobile community in Europe.

The operations are based in Paris, Berlin and Marseille. The service will be deployed in other European countries by the end of 2009.
