Academic competition programs are coordinated through the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the Mono County Office of Education. These programs are offered in the belief that academic excellence can be fostered through competition and the resulting recognition of student's academic accomplishments. Funding for these programs is provided by the Mono County Superintendent of Schools Office and in part by various business and professional organizations.

Winners from these events are encouraged to represent Mono County at State level competitions. Registration fees and travel expenses associated with these events are supported by the Mono County Superintendent of Schools Office.

Currently offered through the Mono County Office of Education are the following Student Events:

- Spelling Bee - April 2, 2008 - Lee Vining High
- Mathcounts - Feb. 2, 2008 - Bridgeport Elementary
- Student Technology Showcase

There has been discussion about offering Science Fair and History Day in Mono County. We are currently encouraging comments and ideas. Please contact Stacey Adler at (760) 934-0031. We look forward to hearing from you.
