There is strength in numbers and the numbers show Corpus Christi is the place to be.

Every year more than 5 million people visit the area bringing with them revenue that is vital to the Corpus Christi area.

Through the efforts of the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Regional Economic Development Corporation and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, organizers hope to keep that way.

The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau serves as the marketing arm for the city drawing in more and more tourists every year. The Regional Economic Development Corporation strives to bring in new businesses and corporations, businesses and ultimately jobs. The Hispanic Chamber steps in to help them grow.

With an annual economic impact of over $1 billion it is not difficult to see why each organization is crucial to Corpus Christi’s success.

"Teamwork between the various city agencies like the Regional Economic Development Corporation or the Convention and Visitors bureau is a key factor for the success of businesses in Corpus Christi," said Joe Cisneros, president and CEO of the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

By working together to bring in new companies, bigger tourist draws and most importantly to support existing businesses we are helping the entire area, he said.

"It’s like the spokes of an umbrella - when all the spokes are in place we have a broad shelter," Cisneros said. "It takes all of us working together to insure continued growth."

The agencies get together every month to discuss big projects, upcoming seminars and build closer relationships.

"One of the things we stress is cooperation," said Ron Kitchens, President and CEO of the Regional Economic Development Corporation. "We don’t all have separate missions, we have the same mission. We just each have different roles in making it a success."
