President's Message

CBC/Radio-Canada, like the entire broadcasting industry, is going through unprecedented transformation. Despite these upheavals, concern for the environment remains paramount to all our activities.

Our new strategy, A space for us all, will see us review our operations to be more efficient and better aligned to continue fulfilling our programming mandate for Canadians. As we undergo this transformation, we will maintain our focus on reducing our carbon footprint and achieving environmental sustainability.

For 2013-2014, we have implemented our new Environmental Management System. After years of development, we are proud that this system is now in place. It will increase process efficiencies in managing environmental risks, such as improved incident reporting, while at the same time reducing work duplication and paperwork.

Our work at reducing e-waste, air emissions, water consumption and energy usage continues, with significant achievements in all of these areas as highlighted in this report and the Spotlight on environmental sustainability 2013-2014.

These results are thanks to efforts by staff across the Corporation that are enabling us to work better as a business and reduce our impact on the environment.

As we double our efforts to play as big a part in our country’s future as we’ve played in its past, we remain conscious of our responsibility to ensure a better world for future generations.
