IdeaTorrent is what can be defined as an "open innovation software": it lets people submit their ideas, brainstorm them, and vote on them. The most popular ideas and requests are then easily assessable.
That's a very interesting mean for a project to have an insight on the demands of his user base!
What does it offer?
IdeaTorrent includes multiples solutions to a single rationale support, strong community based moderation tools, theming support, and is based on Drupal. See the demo! It is a Free Open Source Software (FOSS) licensed under GNU General Public License, which means you can freely download it, modify it and distribute it.
Version 2.0 stopped, version 0.9.x still active

Hello!
These last months, a lot happened, and I ended up maintaining a dozen of brand new Drupal modules for newspapers.
This plus other events let me reconsider my choice to rewrite from scratch Ideatorrent (which is quite a lot of work). The code of the beginning of my work is available, for anyone that wants to take over. Meanwhile, the 0.9 version is still maintained, and this version is recommended for both Drupal 5 and 6.
Cheers!
An IdeaTorrent for each Sourceforge.net project!
nand — Wed, 04/29/2009 - 21:02
Another great news just came in today:
Starting from today, each Sourceforge.net project will have the option to use IdeaTorrent as an embedded application within the project page (as well as already some big names like phpBB, MediaWiki,...) !! See the announcement here.
Plus, you will be able to suggest feature to Sourceforge.net directly on their own IdeaTorrent located at http://apps.sourceforge.net/ideatorrent/sourceforge/.
Good to see the IdeaTorrent family growing!
IdeaTorrent will go directly 2.0!
nand — Wed, 04/29/2009 - 20:55
After much consideration on the current state of IdeaTorrent and the need to have an always more configurable, powerful and modular IdeaTorrent, it has been decided that we will go directly to IdeaTorrent 2.0, with a complete rewrite of the core.
This rewrite will allow us to include some of the more asked features, such as MySQL support, much easier theming with the Drupal standard theming functions, and much much more modularity and configuration options. For example, the choice to use either plain ideas (like the old Ubuntu Brainstorm), or rationale/solutions ideas (like the current one).
And of course, there will be an upgrade path from 0.9 to 2.0.
So if you have some more great ideas for IdeaTorrent, now is the best time to ask for them on our own IdeaTorrent!
IdeaTorrent for Drupal 6, and creation of our own IdeaTorrent
nand — Sun, 03/22/2009 - 15:38
IdeaTorrent has finally been ported to Drupal 6! Go fetch it on the downloads section. An updated version for Drupal 5 is also there, with a few fixes. Both versions, for Drupal 5 and 6, will be supported in the future.
Also, our own IdeaTorrent has been set up! You can now go and use it to submit suggestions for IdeaTorrent.

Thanks to Stephan Cohen, Natanael, Mattias Ohlsson and Christian Widell, IdeaTorrent is now translated into Swedish!
Italian translation!
nand — Fri, 01/09/2009 - 11:40
I never ceased to be amazed by the (rather silent :) ) IdeaTorrent community. I still haven't put the link to the page to translate IdeaTorrent, but some contributors managed to find it and get the time and patience to translate 500 strings!
So thanks to the user feedbach, IdeaTorrent is now translated into Italian. And also thanks to Sayak Banerjee for the Hindi translation, to Benoit St-André, Stéphane Graber and bligneri for the French translation, and Angel Ramirez Isea and Eliseo Badillo for the Spanish translation.
And it seems we will see soon Danish and Dutch translations too!

The BBC has launched his IdeaTorrent!
nand — Tue, 12/23/2008 - 18:26
I'm glad to forward the news that the BBC has decided to use IdeaTorrent for user feedback gathering!
It is having a public trial right now, but I have no doubt it will succeed at his job. Go have a look at : http://ideas.welcomebackstage.com/ !
PS: Yeah, I did not forget about the translations :)
Translations incoming!
nand — Wed, 12/10/2008 - 22:08
I realized a while back that a few good wills did actually do the complete translation of IdeaTorrent! French, Spanish and Hindi to name them (see the translation page). Thanks a lot to the translators!
Now I realized the list of strings was not up to date : two were missing. The above-mentionned translations are thus not finished yet. As soon as the hole are filled, I'll release the lang packs plus instructions to use them.
Thanks to you!
