About This Site

Design and Navigation

Welcome to Powys County Council's new public website. The layout and appearance of the site is deliberately kept clear and simple to make the information as easy to find and to read as possible. In common with many other local government websites, the structure of the site is based as closely as possible on the Government's Local Government Category List (LGCL), modified as appropriate for the specific needs of Powys.

For more information on the LGCL, click here

As yet, not all the Council’s web pages conform to the new format, though we are working to bring them all into the new structure and design. In the meantime, you may be redirected to websites that, though operated by the council, do not share the look-and-feel of the main site. We ask for your patience in this transitional period, and as always, if you have any comments or requests, please feel free to contact us.

You may also be redirected to useful information on websites maintained by other organisations. Please note that Powys County Council is not responsible for the accuracy of the information on other organisations' websites.

To navigate around the site, you can use the menus on the left side of the page, or click on any link within a page. Links in the text of a page look like this.

The menus at the sides of the page change according to which section and level of the site you are in. To avoid duplication of information, some of the menu items are links to pages in other sections of the site. A "breadcrumb trail" at the top of the main content area of each page tells you where you are in the site structure. To get to a higher level of the site, simply click on its name in the breadcrumb trail. To go back to the last page you were looking at, click the "Back" button in your browser as usual.

The site is designed for maximum accessibility and further enhancements are planned for the near future; if you have any problems accessing the information on the site, or you would like to comment on any aspect of the site’s accessibility, please contact the Webmaster:
