Abstract :  in this paper I will develop a device to help visually impaired people find way around in indoor/outdoor unknown environment. The system is based mainly on obstacles detection in a video stream. Using video/image processing for obstacles detection and pathways determination needs less sensors and smaller than other approaches like using sticks and sensors. Using video allow us utilize smart computer vision techniques to detects and information than other approaches. The system will consist of three parts: camera, video processor, and speech generator. The video processor will process the video stream, detect objects, obstacles and pathways, then deliver the extracted information to the speech generator to generate suitable phrases to inform the user about his/her path. I propose a low cost system that can detect obstacles in user’s path while walking in indoor or outdoor environment then send speech alert to user to help navigate him. In general our system will consist of camera to get frames and a microprocessor to process those frames, finally send the decision as sound alert to the user whether there are obstacles in the path or not.

NoC Switching Fabric Scheduler Using Hybrid iSLIP Algorithm

Publication Date : June 2015

SearchDL ID : 03.IJES.2015.1.4

Abstract :  Network on Chip becomes more and more complex. In fact, it can be assumed as a set of cores that communicates together. The communication network must achieve maximum throughput while assuring the system stability, correctness and eliminating starvation. Till now, the Switch Fabric is considered as the perfect solution among existing NoC architecture. As it is known, the Switch Fabric brain is the scheduler. Moreover, the scheduling algorithm choice must be suitable for the application requirement. In this paper, we will study our own scheduling algorithm called Hybrid iterative Serial Line Internet Protocol. It is proved that HiSLIP enhanced not only the convergence order that have a great contribution on the system response time, but also reduces the scheduler complexity to improve its performance. In fact, there are two core types that are master cores and slave ones. For master one we chose a Fixed Priority Scheduling algorithm. While slave cores are managed by a modified iSLIP. This paper presents a modeling, a performance evaluation and a design of a hardware scheduler using the Hybrid iSLIP algorithm for High-Speed Virtual output Queues. A comparison is done between some iSLIP algorithms and the Hybrid one by determining the complexity and the convergence order for all of them.

Measurement of Temperature Through Raman Scattering

Publication Date : June 2015

SearchDL ID : 03.IJES.2015.1.5

Abstract :  This paper treats the theory of distributed optical fiber sensing measurement used in the monitoring of the structures civil, like tunnels, bridges, buildings, dams, pipeline… While resorting to distributed temperature sensors Raman scattering, we present a theoretical and simulation measurement of temperature. We highlight the effect of distance in temperature measurement in particular the work in this article provides the equation which shows well the relationship between the temperature and distance in optical fiber. The results indicate that the anti stokes signal is strongly dependent on the temperature, therefore the temperature varies slightly by changing the point of measurement.

Use Of Data Distribution Service On Top Of Ethernet For Vehicular Networks

Publication Date : June 2015

SearchDL ID : 03.IJES.2015.1.6

Abstract :  Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware has become one of the best solutions for real-time distributed industrial systems. Ethernet continues to be one of the most popular LAN technologies, for next generation in-vehicle networking, the automotive industry identified Ethernet as a promising candidate besides CAN and FlexRay Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware has become one of the best solutions for real-time distributed industrial systems. An interesting contribution would be the use of the DDS middleware on top of Ethernet networks. In this paper, we will establish a timing and buffering management system to launch listeners related to timing communication status representing real-time QoS (Quality of Service). To justify the importance of this contribution, we will use as a application an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) benchmark to calculate the worst case response time (WCRT), and to introduce it into the DDS QoS to prove that these realtime QoS are met.

Designing an Embedded System for Driver Heart Health Monitoring

Publication Date : June 2015

SearchDL ID : 03.IJES.2015.1.7

Abstract :  The paper attempts to design a prototype of an embedded system that regularly monitors the heart health condition of the driver while driving, using the electrodes placed on the steering wheel. On detecting any severe abnormalities in the heart rate, various control activities will be initiated which includes automatically applying brakes, switching ON the indicators and warning alarm to alert nearby vehicles and passengers, and finally send the driver’s heart health status to his physician along with the location of the vehicle using GSM/GPS technologies. Non-invasive Electrocardiography is used to extract driver heart signals which, is later analyzed to diagnose the different heart conditions of the driver. The paper also enhances its scope by accumulating the details regarding daily heart health status of the driver in a database management system from Arduino using an Ethernet shield.

ESTABLISHMENT OF A MONITORING SOLUTION BASED ON EYESOFNETWORK

Publication Date : June 2015

SearchDL ID : 03.IJES.2015.1.8

Abstract :  Network supervision is the fact of collecting the necessary informations on the state of the infrastructure and the entities used therein, analyze and report them. It allows having a global view of the operation and potential problems on a network. EON (EyesOfNetwork) is a complete solution to monitor the network while integrating the ITIL approach, it is currently distributed under the GPL and it gathers many tools of supervision: network Supervision with NAGIOS, NAGIOSBP and NAGVIS, Performance Management with CACTI, WEATHERMAP and a configuration interface with backup.
