Over the decades, the
Institute of Christian Growth (ICG) has been a ministry of counseling, healing, and teaching directed by William P. Wilson, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Duke University and currently Distinguished Professor of Counseling at Carolina Graduate School of Divinity.

ICG hopes to soon make available videos of many of the resources mentioned. Look for these in 2012.

As of year 2011, Dr. Wilson is 89-years-old. He retired from seeing patients on July 1, 2007 at 85 years of age.  He continues to teach and write.  If you wish to receive Dr. Wilson's e-newsletter, e-mail us, and put NEWSLETTER in the subject field.

Over decades, medical students, residents, and other practitioners received tutoring on how to integrate their faith into their practices. In addition, conferences and seminars were presented intermittently. These were designed to meet the needs of mental health professionals, pastors and lay persons. Content was not limited to mental health subjects and provided opportunities for spiritual growth, learning how to live and abundant life.

Due to Dr. Wilson's present inability to travel far distances, his teachings and conferences are now scheduled for closer distances. These conferences present to a wide audience on a variety of subjects important to Christians in healing ministries.

Historically, our conferences featured a faculty of experts, and these were audio and video taped; in the past, copies on CD and DVD were made available. Dr. Wilson and other practitioners also taught singly. These lessons are a part of a complete course in our Christian Counseling Series.

PURPOSE: Our purpose is to share with those who are interested, the insights God has given us concerning the transformation of minds. This world is full of ”messed-up” people who cannot be healed by secular methods. Even if secular methods work they do not free the patient of the consequences of sin. Neither do they make new persons out of the people who come for help.

To help accomplish the transformation of our minds, this Website provides commentaries, essays and Bible studies, as well as scientific papers for the purpose of instructing those who wish how to integrate your faith into your psychotherapeutic (counseling) practices.

INTRODUCTION: God's healing power is available to all who wish to claim it. By His grace He provides this through physicians, professionals and lay people. To use His power to the utmost, it is necessary that the Christian physician (or professional or lay person), as well as the patient, be able to communicate their needs to God so He may provide them His store of riches. We hope to, therefore, provide commentaries, essays, scientific papers, Bible studies, and videos on line; which outline the process of healing, the mechanisms God has given us to bring about healing, and the psychological techniques that can be applied by both the healer and the one being healed.
