Sorry, I read the first 200 pages and got bored reading about how YouTube started and the rest of the back story, so I skimmed the rest and yes, the book is going back.

The web changes constantly and authors need to value the readers time and not try to create a literary master piece in a business how to book. I have little time to read junk and this book delivered so much fluff that finding the meat was too big a job. I can't justify keeping it as I will never go back and try to find the small amount of useful information that may be in it.

I hardly EVER send books back, but I actually feel obligated to do it on this one because it deserves it. "ALL" of the information in this book is free when you sign up for a YouTube account and the information on YouTube is more current.

Surprisingly in the 450 pages of this book there was ZERO information on how to monetize your YouTube marketing account, ZERO!!!!

This book should be called "History of YouTube"...

I gave it two stars because is has value for the person who likes to read for the sake of the story!

I've followed Greg Jarboe's writing and speaking for many years, and for good reason. He's always ahead of the curve when it comes to digital marketing, and I always learn the latest tactics and techniques from him before the rest of the world even starts to wake up and catch on.

Greg's book "YouTube Video Marketing: An Hour a Day" does not disappoint! It'll tell you everything you need to know to build a presence on YouTube and leverage it across the web. Greg never fails to include little twists and details that can impact your results even more than just covering the basics.

The second edition is fully up-to-date and is rarely on our office's bookshelf for long, as our staff continually refers to it. If you want to make the most of YouTube, this is the guide!

I purchased this Nov 2011 second edition before it hit the shelves because I knew how important it is to be current with online marketing. The book has an excellent balance of graphics (B&W;) and text density. Being a little geeky, I want dialog and detailed data supported by pictures not the other way around. Reviewing similar books on the shelf to (the 1st ed) this book just reaffirmed what my internet search had found - this is the book for me. First off, don't be "put off" by the authors 7 month plan as laid out in the TOC. Chapters 3 thru 9 correspond to months 1 thru 7 (not to mention chapters 10 & 11). Each chapter is further broken down, in the body of the text, into weeks and then days. But this seems to be really for organizational purposes because some "days" reading can be as short as one page! I like this because this, information intense, book is really an easy read! I jumped right into Chapter 7 (month 5) channels and optimization. You better know about keyword and optimization tools before you create your YouTube channel, especially before picking a name. Your channel name is just as important for SEO as picking a domain name for your web site. Try YouTube's Keyword tool. And here is a hint not found in the book and I almost blew it with my name: your channel name is CASE SENSITIVE. Good luck and check out my site [...]

This book covers everything you need to know from planning your video marketing strategy to analyzing the results, plus everything in between including the technical details about video file types, camcorders, and video production. The best part is that it breaks down everything you need to know in hour a day tasks so you can go at your own speed without feeling overwhelmed.

In just 5 years, we've witnessed YouTube rise from what was once just a site for sharing video content, to what is now a powerful marketing tool for businesses and brands. Because of this exciting growth and the new and relatively untapped opportunity that now exists, we've also seen a rise of so-called "video marketing experts" offering best practices guides, training series, and books. For someone like myself who is relatively experienced with digital video and internet marketing, it was incredibly refreshing for discover this book, which was written by a true expert in YouTube Marketing (Greg Jarboe). Greg writes for several well-respected internet marketing related websites ([...]) and speaks at conferences worldwide about YouTube strategies and best practices for marketing. I had the honor of attending a YouTube best practices workshop that Greg was the instructor for at a leading search engine marketing conference. Suffice to say that he not only knows how to talk the talk, but he walks the walk as well.

The book covers, in-depth, pretty much everything you'd ever want to know about YouTube, from how it got started and who's using it, to specific tactics that can be used to better optimize uploaded videos for search.

Pros: Easy to read, in-depth content, written by a true expert, well organized, up-to-date
Cons: You might learn more than you wanted.
