URR gets new governorWednesday, September 04, 2013 A new acting governor has been appointed by the leadership to steer the affairs of the Upper River Region (URR), reliable sources have informed the Daily Observer. Kanimang Sanneh, an APRC bigwig and native of Sandi Kunda, replaced a long-serving governor, Omar Khan, who was recently removed as governor of the said region. Contacted to shed light on the veracity of this new development Tuesday, the deputy governor of URR, Momodou S. Jallow, confirmed the story of the one-time lawmaker. It would be recalled that Kanimang Sanneh was the first National Assembly member of Jimara in the Second Republic, serving the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) from 1996-2001. From 2002-2007, he oversaw the administration of the Basse Area Council as its chairman and has until today been an active supporter of the ruling party. Author: Momodou Jawo in Basse URR |
