GeneralMILESTONE
His silver in the 10,000m at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi was the Netherlands' 100th speed skating medal in Olympic Winter Games history. (ONS, 18 Feb 2014)
OLYMPIC HEARTBREAK
He was disqualified for failing to switch lanes in the 10,000m at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. He had clocked the fastest time at the event, which would also have been a new Olympic record. His coach Gerard Kemkers incorrectly told him to take the inside lane on the 17th lap, but Kramer only discovered the mistake after finishing. At the 2006 Games in Turin, he was part of the Dutch pursuit team that were ahead of Italy in the semifinal, until Kramer stepped on a lane marker and collided with teammate Carl Verheijen, causing them both to fall.
