Ahead of the big reveal for Disney's Infinity initiative next month, the stage has been set through details leaked to Polygon. The game -- which is being developed by Avalanche Software, the studio behind Toy Story 3: The Video Game -- appears to be an extension of that title's well-received Toy Box mode. According to the outlet, Infinity has been described as a "gaming platform" that will pull from both Disney and Pixar properties long-term.

"What we saw of the game shows players controlling well-known characters from a collection of Disney movies, exploring wide-open expanses in cars, on foot, or by flying," reports the outlet. "The game, which seems to include split-screen mode, will support a plethora of ways to play including racing, shooting, building and destroying. In the videos, players ran around together as different Disney and Pixar characters, hopping on top of structures, using ray guns, driving tanks in impromptu battles."

This already sounded fascinating to me, but there was one description in particular that made my face light up. "In one scene, Toy Story's Woody uses a "sticky hand" toy, Disney Infinity's version of Just Cause's grappling hook, to grab a passing plane being flown by Buzz Lightyear. The stretchy, neon-green leash attached to the sticky hand elongates, dragging Woody off his feet and into the air behind the plane. It's one of many examples of Disney Infinity's emergent gameplay."

You really ought to read the full article to get a sense for what Infinity is actually about (many different things, it would seem). It sounds like Disney is putting a lot of time and energy into making something special here. If the end result matches what I'm picturing now, it very well could be.

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus opening movie is not sexist

My favorite part was when all the clothing erupted off the characters' bodies in a whirlwind of shredded fabric. Hm. Okay. Maybe it is sexist after all. Or not. I don't know. I'm still too busy enjoying that killer music. Oh...   more

This Pikachu-themed pimp outfit is pretty darn incredible

The facial expression of this man simultaneously dressed as a pimp and Pikachu says it all, until you notice the woman on the left of the photograph. Oh, but just wait -- if you go look at the full image, you'll then see that...   more

Have you used any of these weird-ass controllers?

When it comes to controllers, I try to steer clear of third-party options, as I've never once had a better experience with a knock-off versus the real thing. On the other hand, I gladly welcome any and all limited edition pad...   more

Did you start your morning with PS Vita's Wake-up Club?

Let's face it: waking up in the morning sucks, but Sony has a new game of sorts to make that harsh reality a little more tolerable. Wake-up Club is essentially an alarm clock with social game elements for your PlayS...   more

Japonies 2013

So, like, this is nothing new. We briefly brought up Japan World Cup, a weird-ass horse race-betting DVD game, a couple years back. You might not have heard of it. Or, if you are like me, you completely forgot that this is a thing that exists. Consider this a refresher course in "Japan is f*ckin' nuts" 101. [Vinesauce] Studyguy - Japonies 2013 [YouTube]   more

LOST gets a 16-bit RPG makeover

Oh, LOST. I loved you. You were such an addicting show, even when the plot got horribly stupid. And thanks to College Humor's on going series of turning everything into a Super Nintendo RPG, I want to rewatch every single episode on Netflix.   more
