Reader's Choice Best RPG: Xenoblade Chronicles

Reader's Choice Best RPG of 2012: Xenoblade Chronicles (Nintendo Wii)
Writeup by Derek Heemsbergen
Our first annual Reader's Choice award goes to Xenoblade Chronicles, showing that our readers still generally favor Japanese RPGs. And what a JRPG this one is — despite being on a graphically "inferior" console, Xenoblade is a perfect example of style over substance, of heart over horsepower. It's interesting that this game was backed by an immense fanbase prior to its North American release, and that enthusiasm clearly remains with Xenoblade to this day. We thank each and every one of you for taking the time to vote, readers, and hope to see you back next year to see where your tastes lie. Cheers!

Another JRPG takes the prize as our Reader's Choice 2012 Runner-Up. Persona 4 Golden presented the definitive version of a fan favorite and has received almost exclusively positive attention since its release. We imagine you must be as excited for Persona 5 as we are.
