Nope, its still good. I'm 24 and i'm still excited about some FPS. I was going to say judgement but actually its third person. I've put in a good 300 hours into Planetside 2 since it's release. Although it's the teamwork that keeps me obsessed and the joy that comes  with shooting Vanu. I guess I don't play skyrim for the shooting, however I do spend a lot of time hunting with a bow; Soooo much fun.

"No One Lives Forever" needs to be brought back to life! PLEASE BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE =(

FPS have become more realistic and I think that is what actually is making me sick of the thing. They are less of a game and more army simulations.

Microsoft guys are big time assholes.They released the first two Halo games on Xbox as well as on PC.However they cancelled the PC versions of Halo3 and the rest of the series.The same happened with Gears of War.They released the first one on PC but they cancelled the sequels due to "low sales".Damn these bastards.Despite the fact that they created and developed Windows,there haven't been many PC exclusive games from their side.If Mac was better than windows I would have ditched Windows and bought myself a PS3 (that's right microsoft a PS3).

Man I loved seeing all the footage of old FPS's back in the day, thanks for that. I think the only people tired of shooting are the older players that have been around for all these games (like myself). I think he made a great point about all the recent games focusing so much on realism and seriousness. We need to get away from all this modern warfare realism and start getting creative again.

console is not stupid for having first person shooter even though their hardware is limited, is how a developer utilize the system and thank god it came and that's why i like to use a controller over a mouse and keyboard because i'm most comfortable with it. My favorite first person shooter series is perfect dark series (even pdz's controller button layout is okay and weapon melee, the downside it's speed movements and it looking sensitivity) and goldeneye 007 (n64 version) and call of duty 4 and up (because it has great controller button layout and sensitivity adjustment), since i play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare every past to today game which isn't publish and developed for activision seems kind of suck-ish to me.

I'm sick of guns and constant realism. I am, in fact, glad that Black Ops II takes it away from realism part and go futuristic. It's the only good part of any CoD game now sadly...when they are not realistic, it's more important the zombie mod then both story and normal multiplayer and that's sad.

I can talk about Medal of Honor, i played the good ones on PS1...i don't really how can they keep a straight face when they say this is medal of honor.

Battlefield is still decent but even that's near to fall.

Because was not infinite before 2006. As long the modern life system goes i'm not gonna play any game that uses it, could be the most amazing in the world and have tons of stuff and even not have any DLC but in-game credits (dream), but i'm out from them anyway because of modern life system.

I'm playing Borderlands 2, it has regenerating shields and not the life.

Guess what? A 90's life system.

Great show, Danny, I am glad you decided to come across FPS topic! It is my favorite game genre. IMO, one of the best FPS is the original Deus Ex, couse it included lots of options including stealth approach, interesting dialogs and RPG elements. And I guess best way to gain the ultimate game experience is to combine FPS with RPG. There are a lot of shining examples like Borderlands, Deus Ex, Dead Island and etc.

My favorite FPS-games: MOHAA, Original Far Cry, Original Duke Nukem, Half-Life 2, COD 4 and Battlefield 3
