FFVII is the best but once again the reason why sony PS3 is failing is because they keep making final fantasy shorter and shorter which suckss and where are the Citys. i love getting lost in a city
Chrono Cross is better than Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VI is better than Final Fantasy VII.RPGs, and the FF series, DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND FF7.
I enjoyed a number of the games for different reasons, and some more so than others. FF VI competes with X for my favorite in the series, with VII and VIII right behind. Kingdom Hearts II was excellent, but they all loose to Xenogears (not the new Xenoblade or the poor Xenosaga, but Xenogears for the PS1). The game was built by a side production team at Square around the time of FFVII and FFVIII, and I still believe that it has the most in-depth story and characters I have ever seen in a video game.
IMO, FFXIII was a great game in its own right since a number of technical and mechanical things were excellent (I liked the battle system, it was undeniably beautiful, and the environments, if not the explorable areas, were enormous), but because of the music, scripting, antagonists, and most of the voice cast, it didn't have a soul, so I choose to not believe that it is a Final Fantasy game, just as I refuse to believe that Star Wars Force Unleashed 1 and 2 are cannon.
I've honestly liked the kingdom hearts games more that the final fantasy games I've played but final fantasy X is my second favorite game ever (just barely losing out to Kingdom Hearts II)!

ichimitch Okay, so I just watched the video, and really wished I hadn't. An extremely uninformed and casual FF fan gives a shallow recap of the series history, and not surprisingly, starts at FF7, and works his way from there, as if the first six games never happened. It's quite plain to see what type of FF fan he is from the fact he begins with FF7, heaps praise on it, and mentions how each consecutive FF game that had a medieval fantasy setting disgusted him. This is not a FF fan (or even an RPG fan). This is a FF7 fan. There are FF fans, and then there are FF7 fans, and FF7 fans are the people that make up the second generation of FF fans who annoy the ever living **** out of the REAL series fans, like me, and all think the series started with FF7 just because that's where they came in (a continuing pet peeve). I guess they also assume the world didn't exist before they were born, and everything they enjoy from the world today just appeared out of the void when they first opened their eyes to it. The disrespect and ignorance they show for the series' roots makes me sick, and it has led to me hating FF7 with a passion, even though I enjoyed the game. I get it - RPGs were kind of an obscure geek thing until then, and FF7 did a lot of good for RPGs essentially, but ..... all right... I get it already ... ENOUGH ABOUT FF7, YOU GUYS! The genre has had a whole history even before your shallow ass came onboard to annoy the fandom, and there's been plenty of great RPGs to come before it - some actually better than FF7! Namely the game in the series that came right before FF7.He's also one of these ****s that love spoiling that big moment in FF7, and one of these people that think anything that's been around for years is fair game to spoil. What is it about the mental disease that compels people to go blab about some pivotal game-changing moment in a game or movie to other people?! What is it about it that they feel is necessary to talk about to the detriment of other people's enjoyment?! Do they think it's like some special secret they've uncovered they have to share with the world?! These types are the most annoying ****ing cretins on the Internet. And I say not even a century's time is enough time to spoil a movie for someone. I am very much against that. Any new movie lover born on this planet who wants to partake of the treasure trove of movies the industry has to offer is going to want to go back and watch it, and hopefully it remain fresh for them. Jesus cristo.
Old_Schooler_Dan Well to be fair to the giant douche.. This video is the second video in a 2 part "guide".. He did cover the earlier games in the other video. but that's as much credit as I'll give him.. Other than that you're pretty much on the mark. He is not a fan of the series, he's an FF7 and FF13 fanboy.. Listening to him praise FF13, and finally, call it a "turn based" game was the final straw for me.. I finished FFXIII only because I've never not finished an FF title before. It was by far the worst FF title yet, and I'm actually NOT going to buy FFXIII-2 out of protest.. So called fans of the series like this wanker are what's wrong with today's gaming community.. and worse yet, he works for a company where his opinion apparently counts for something... If fuckwits like this condone the kinds of shitty titles like FFXIII, devs will keep farting them out because that's what the people want... Yes, FFXIII has stunning graphics, but pretty graphics count for fuck all if the game isn't fun to play...
After finishing Final Fantasy XIII yesterday I just had to fire up Final Fantasy X to re-experience the style of gameplay that made me love the Final Fantasy series. 20 minutes in and it's already a massive affirmation of just how sh1tful the battle & leveling systems are in FFXIII... FFXIII may look pretty, but it's nowhere near as fun to play as any of it's predecessors.
Vanille was hot, son so I didn't care what was really funny about her was when all the game reviewers had to meet her voice actor who was hot in real life which made them back pedal
ffviiifreak Didnt mind vanille at all wondering why shes getting all this crap ps might want to buy square enix shares while their low because id think they would become much more valueable the moment versus thirteen gets a release date.

Gambits were NOT complicated....and they rocked. FFX had my favorite battle system out of all FF's, imo. FFXIII had my least favorite.
swimmer1029 i don't get what was so hard about gambits? What did it strain your brain for thinking about fifteen seconds?
the best ff game i think is ff 7 and 8 because ff 7 have 7 disc on ps1 and ff 8 also 1-4 disc
While I disagree on some points (Advent Children was great), agree on some others (FF8 is also one of my faves), overall I'd say this whole 2-part series review was not well thought out. Please try harder next time.

I just watched this from the PS3 How comes that the PSOne games look so great? Also FF X looks better than FF XIII. I can't wait for FF X HD. On big tv and HD resolution it will just be fantastic!
Vanille one of the most annoying characters ever? VANILLE?! This in a video showing a weirdo like the one in the right?! Vanille is second only to Fang in FF XIII. She is just like Rikku. Young, naive and cheerful. Not to mention sexy. Those two guys just wish they could find a girlfriend nearly as good as her. The best they might get is Quina from FF IX. No bull. :D

The music in the opening part of the video, whilst they were describing FF7...is that a jazzy version of the FF7 boss music? I could swear the chord progression is identical! If I'm right, I am proud of my ear for music and will take up an instrument forthwith. Also without wanting to prompt a flamewar the Final Fantasy series died the day FFX was released ;-)

I wish Square would make the gameplay really complex again, and bring back Jobs or the Gambit System or the Sphere Grid or something that actually made gameplay difficult and made you think and wasn't just easy and nice to look at. Oh, and take out all the BS characters, please!

Loved Final Fantasy 7-8, Liked 9-10. Now as mentioned below its gone all emo and for girls. I was talking to a chick at JB HIFI who was buying the latest FF she said she has everything from 10 on wards and said she didn't like 7-9. After that I no longer found her attractive and had to walk away appalled with what I heard. Well thats what I wanted to do LOL.

@ShirkDawg Cloud, Squall, any of this ringing a bell? You can call it melodrama or whatever but it's pretty much what FFs and jrpgs and the japanese style in general is all about. Doesn't mean it's bad but it's funny for someone to complain that FFs are "way over the top emo now"
Never really gotten into the FF jrpg craze but FF7 and 8 was great games. Dont like those X-series. There may be more FF to come though, just check out the famous Deus Ex easter egg! In view of the upcoming release of resident evil 6 and operation raccoon city, would love to see a B***** guide to resident evil
final fantasy 10 was the best one so far and i like the song form 13 by Leona Lewis and she is hot
