About us

MORE GAME PLAYING POWER TO YOUR POCKET!
If Pocket Gamer isn't the world's number one site for mobile and handheld games when you read this, well, it soon will be.

Why? Because since we launched in March 2006, we've been doing everything we can to create a place on the internet devoted to what we call Pocket Gaming.

At Pocket Gamer, we're about:
Games you can put in your pocket

Games you can play wherever and whenever you like

Games you can dip into for five minutes (but spend an hour with)

Fun and frantic action

Competing against our friends

No manuals or game degrees needed to make the games work!

We love how our phones are always there for us with a quick football match on the bus or a Grand Prix in a doctor's surgery. We love how the GBA can take anything we throw at it and still deliver Tetris at 35,000 feet above the Atlantic, or half a mile below ground in the Channel Tunnel. We love our drop-dead gorgeous PSPs. And we love how the DS has us tapping away with our stylus like demented woodpeckers.

Not for us the distractions of big screen TV games consoles, or of 40-hours-a-week pretending to be Richard the Goblin in some online world. Not that there's anything wrong with that (well, apart from the Richard bit, surely 'Balzoc the Goblin' would be more fitting?) We love our Xbox 360s, Wiis and PS3s. It's just we love our PSPs, our DSs, and our ever handy mobile phones so much more.

We believe nothing will make games more popular than Pocket Gaming – especially now all the new machines let you play against your friends.
Who knows, we may just be talking about a games revolution. Are you going to play along with us?

WHO IS POCKET GAMER?
Joao Diniz Sanches | PSP Editor & Site Editor
When he's not speeding around real race tracks, former Edge editor Joao spends his time lapping virtual ones. That and looking after Pocket Gamer, of course, where in addition to overseeing the whole site he also keeps an eye on the PSP section.

Rob Hearn Rob Hearn | Mobile Reviews Editor
Having obtained a distinguished education at a fine university, Rob now plays video games and looks after Pocket Gamer's mobile reviews section in his underwear for a living. The heart wants what it wants.
Rob is currently playing:
SolaRola (mobile) | World Championship Pool 2007 3D (mobile) | Monkey Island II (homebrew DS)

Stuart Dredge Stuart Dredge | Mobile News Editor
A legend in the mobile game circles, Stuart is a freelance journalist and blogger who's been getting paid to write stuff since 1998. In that time, he's focused on topics ranging from Sega's Dreamcast console to robots. That's what you call versatility. (Or a short attention span.)

Kath Brice Kath Brice | DS Editor
Kath gave up a job working with animals five years ago to join the world of video game journalism, which now sees her running our DS section. With so many male work colleagues, many have asked if she notices any difference.

Fraser McInnes Fraser McInnes | Writer
Seated in the culturally rich heart of the European continent, Munich-based Fraser is a refined gentleman who enjoys art, fine wine and games about blowing things up, decapitating zombies and slaying mythical beasts.

Tracy Erickson Tracy Erickson | US Correspondent
Manning our editorial outpost in America, Tracy comes with years of expertise at mashing a keyboard. When he's not out painting the town red, he jets across the home of the brave, covering press events under the Pocket Gamer banner.
Tracy is currently playing:
Picross DS (DS) | Jeanne d'Arc (PSP) | Sega Rally (PSP)
Jon Jordan | Features Editor
After an early sojourn in the music industry – working with little known bands such as Snow Patrol (wonder whatever happened to them?) – Jon has now probably forgotten more about games than he knew in the first place. That's why he's ideally placed to find out new stuff as our features writer.

Chris James | Managing Director
A footie game fanatic and experienced editor of numerous computing and game titles, lively Chris is up for anything – including running Pocket Gamer! (Madman!)

Plus our hand-picked band of freelance writers…

A select crew of games writers who we know and trust, we make our contributors an offer they can't refuse: we pay them, to play games. (But if one gets slack, they'll find a horse's head in their bed by morning!)
