No More Heroes gets a free-to-play social mobile game

No More Heroes gets a free-to-play social mobile game photo

No More Heroes returns to your life as a free-to-play social mobile game. Something tells me that the unique blend of F2P, social gaming, and the mobile market isn't having NMH lovers jumping for joy. In fact it seems perfectly designed to draw in their hatred.

No More Heroes World Ranker has players create their own assassin before taking on missions, fight other players, and climb the killer rankings. It's out now in Japan for Android and will come to iOS shortly.

I leave you with Jonathan Holmes' sole reaction to this news:

"Poop."

YOnatan Hormes.
Um. Um. Um. UM.

I'm down with this.
MY SPLEEEENNN!!!

My favorite line from that game's demo on PSN whenever I killed someone. I really need to get around to that game, one of these days...
Poop is the right response
Jownertin Herms.
Wow
Wooooow
Can you play the ps3 one without move?
Wouldn't a No More Heroes game be Antisocial Game rather than Social Game?
@Phil - Yes, but its a terrible port.

YOu can find the Wii version for cheaper and its more stable. The Motion controls are actually quite fun.
NOOOOOOOOOO WE NEED TO DISCUSS THE HIDDEN ARTISTIC MEEEEEANIIIIING. WHAT'S SUDA51 TRYING TO SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY?
...Wait what just happened?
Um...hooray?
...........................what?
Phil it actually isnt too bad of a port. Dont listen to that douche.

Amazing game with or without move. :-)
@SayWord - Preferring the original experience with full content makes me a douche? Mmmmkay.

The PS3 version less stable, there's content gutted by Konami for DLC sales and a load of the charm is lost in its HD gloss-over The game looked better cel-shaded

I'm just saying if you want the full experience without a lost of content the PS3 version is indeed the inferior experience. Konami screwed that port up.
@Silent Protagonist
Is there ANYTHING Konami hasn't screwed up lately? (Looking at you, Silent Hill HD Collection)
@ SayWord & @ The Silent Protagonist- There are things I really liked about the PS3 port. It had the bosses from NMH2 (some slightly remixed), new jobs (like kitten racing) and some other sutff.

The problem is the game is way more buggy, making traversing the already potentially frustrating overworld even more problematic. If you touch a any object in the overworld while riding your bike (even a wall!) you may get a collision detection issue that leavs you completely stuck.

They also removed all the Genki Rockets music, which is a bummer.

So yeah, pros and cons! I'd say that the original is better overall, but the PS3 version certainly has its charms.

It's not poop!
Wise words from Jonathan Holmes.

This doesn't fill me with hatred, but confusion. Why did they make this? Did they really think NMH fans would like this? Do they really expect this to be successful? Did Suda51 or Grasshopper actually have anything to do with this?
What?
SCREW YOU INTERNET!!!!
I like the idea, but I can't see how it would be possible to control a game like this confortably and precisely with touch controls. But character creation? Love it.
@Scrustle- My understanding is that Marvelous owns the NMH property and can do whatever they want with it. Grasshopper likely had nothing to do with this.
I hate that weird sheen that everything has in the Ps3 port. Compared to the cel shaded style upscaled on Dolphin its a fucking disgrace.
As a fan of No More Heroes, this does get me mad. Give me a whole new game, not a F2P mobile game!
Whoa, Word, you're calling Silent something bad? =/
But how does it play? Doesn't sound like such a bad game imo.
Keep the same concept.

Port it to 3DS
@Epic-Kx

That would still be bad game idea. A No More Heroes focused on social networking is a lame idea. In fact, there are very few games that adding a social element to them could I consider a positive.

On a side note, automated posts on Facebook or Twitter about what someone did in a game read a lot like spam. It isn't interesting.
@TSP: Wii isn't an option for me, but thanks for the info!

@SayWord: You scamp.

not marvelous at all
@JHolmes
I believe Marvolous is defunct. Also, Suda said he has "Hundreds" of ideas for the mobile platform. I believe he said he was working this as well. However, this is all wikia information, so...
I think I'm more confused than anything else at this news. How much influence does Grasshopper and Suda even have in this game? Turning a single player hack and slash game into a social...create your own...thingy...game. It makes as much sense as if someone made a boxing management simulator out of the Punchout series.
i feel hatred at the news too
Oh wow that's way better than No More Heroes 3

Oh wait no it's not.
didn't they released this a few years ago??

also soo many social games of our favorite franchises T______T
@solidturtleman- I hear you dawg! According to the source though, Marvelous AQL is up and rocking.
Um, could be kind of neat for a few minutes maybe? New NMH stuff is cool.

About the PS3 version, I bought both but only played a little bit of the PS3 version. PS3 version is definitely inferior, but one of the big reasons for that (though there are many more) is the move controls are broken. So yeah, you can play it without move. And if Wii isn't an option, yeah, it's worth it.
Why is this?

At least they don't seem to be wasting new character designs on the game.
