So, I've been starting to get redirect errors when viewing articles, especially if I use the "click here to view this article " link at the top of a talkback thread. When I click the link, I can see my browser trying to login and redirect me but after a certain amount of attempts it seems to give up. I can usually solve the problem by deleting the "fast" bit at the beginning of the URL, but that logs me out and obviously then puts me onto a normal server. When I then try and log back in, I get sent to the forum homepage, rather than just refreshing the article I was reading. Any ideas how to fix it?

Try clearing your cookies both on fast and www then logging back in
Use this link, then change the www to fast or vice verse as appropriate and do it again (the forum magic will change it to whatever server you are on at the moment). animenewsnetwork.com/meta/clear-cookies.php (you can also clear all cookies from the ANN domains in your browser if you know how) |

Perhaps clear the beta cookies too?

I am still getting the problem. It's only when I click links in the Talkback forum i.e. the "this is the discussion thread for this article" Clearing the cookies seemed to work initially, but then it did it literally immediately after I'd cleared them.
I'm using Safari 6 on Mac OS X 10.8 |

If you hover over the "this article" links, is the URL shown as www or fast?

The URL doesn't come up when I hover over the link so I don't know. When I click a link it tries to direct me to the fast server.

Most browsers display the active link in the status bar at the bottom.
I'm wondering if you are logged in on the one server but not the other and it is getting confused about whether you are logged in or not. |

I am thinking that's the case. My browser doesn't display the address at the bottom. I think I'm somehow only logged into the forum rather than both the forum and the main site.

It shouldn't be. You should be logged in for the domain, and there should be no problem changing host name or server. I bounce around between www, fast and admin constantly.
TBH, I have no idea what might be causing this. I'll ask Dan to take a look when he gets back from his vacation next week. Have you tried another browser? I don't mean to force you to change browsers permanently, but it might help us narrow down the problem if we we know if it happens on other browsers on your computer. Can you try Firefox or Chrome ? -t |

I've had this same problem with Safari for a few years now. Except sometimes it's not just links to talkback articles I can't open, sometimes I can't open the news tab or use the encyclopedia search function. It definitely seems to be a Safari specific problem. Never had a similar issue using either Firefox or IE on my PC.

It's definitely a Safari issue, as we've seen people at the office, who work from home, detail the same issue.
After doing some leg work, it seems Safari will revert to a previous domain, regardless of any link url supplied to the navigation. We couldn't find any work around (even changing DNS servers didn't work), but one things we did suggest, which seemed to help, was to be sure to start all browsing sessions at the domain rather than go through our home page. If you have a bookmark for "www", try changing it to "fast", as to prevent Safari from storing the previous domain. Sadly, that's about as much as I can offer, other than use another browser. |

Seems it is a Safari issue. Chrome and Firefox are fine.
