I don't remember Harriet the Spy being a terribly good movie, but its childlike sense of espionage was absolutely gripping as a kid. The house we rented at the time had a cinderblock wall with a few blocks jutting out at a perfect interval for climbing, with my landlord's unoccupied lot full of overgrown flora next door. A friend and I enjoyed climbing the wall, notepads in hand, and taking note of the absolute lack of activity in the empty lot. We were totally real spies, man.
Indie Game: The Movie also graces Netflix with its presence this week, along with a collection of horror movies from the sixties and seventies. There's also The Smurfs and the Magic Flute. Have you ever seen The Smurfs and the Magic Flute? Fun fact: the Smurfs don't even show up for the first damn half hour, so you're just sitting there, watching these characters you don't care about, and wondering where all the little blue things you were hoping for have gone.
TV brings us the Walking Dead, The Office, 30 Rock, One Tree Hill, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Saturday Night Live from the past couple of years, an assortment of Korean shows, some nature documentaries, the fabulous RuPaul's Drag Race, Rescue Me, Undeclared, and Freaks and Geeks, one of my favorite TV shows ever.
Hit the jump, unless you're a butt-patter.
New additions to Netflix Watch Instantly apply only to readers in the United States. For those in other parts of the world, your choices may vary.
