One of the great passions of videogame fans (or fans of any medium, for that matter) is to recreate the items found in the games as real-world objects. We've seen countless versions of the Portal gun, no shortage of elaborate costumes with working features, and even various dishes based on appetizing in-game cuisines. The more detailed and authentic the result, the more Internet "win" points the creator will earn.
Mike Andi of Brisbane deserves about five billion points for his replica of a Mystlinking book. It's not merely that the book looks like the one in the game; it literally is the book from the game. More accurately, it's Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Volume LIV, Issue 312, December 1876 to May 1877 -- the same book that Myst developer Cyan scanned as a texture reference!
Tracking down such a rare book in the right condition was a task in and of itself, but then Mike went about gutting the pages and installing a fully working desktop computer. Now when you open the cover, you'll be greeted by a 640x480 LED touchscreen "linking panel" with access to Myst Masterpiece Edition, realMyst, Riven, Riven Elementary, Myst III: Exile, Myst IV: Revelation, Uru: Ages Beyond Myst and The Path of the Shell, Myst V: End of Ages, The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition, and Crowthistle, plus extras. I'm amazed that the damn thing doesn't catch on fire!
This six-year undertaking is so beyond the limits of cool that it's frozen. If you want this tome on your shelf, Mike's willing to part with it for $15,625. In other words, make your own, suckers!
We've already been given a taste of what Crysis 3: Hunter Edition will have in store for us but today EA has pushed out a new trailer fully revealing its many bonuses while showing us some Hunter mode footage.

Blink, and you might miss this new trailer for Crysis 3. It's the kind of thing that'll pique your interest but isn't long enough to do much more than that.
The video did, however, get me to go look up the game's Hunter mode... more
Crytek and EA have finally shown off some multiplayer goodness for Crysis 3 and it's not just a regular old deathmatch mode.
Hunter mode supports up to 16 players, with one team playing as CELL troopers, and the o... more
Yeah, so this is a trailer showing off the ridiculous visuals Crytek's conjuring for all you graphics whores out there. While I'm always a gameplay-over-visuals guy, I do have to say ... it is impressive stuff.

It looks like there's now a chance that Crysis 3 will appear on the Wii U, despite comments on the subject from Crytek's creative director Rasmus Hoejengaard in May. Producer Mike Reid told CVG that's it's no longer a ca... more
E3 2012 was considered by many to be the most gun-heavy show we have ever seen. However, looking back upon the week, there really were no more shooters than usual. In fact, most of the games were featured in last year's line... more
If there was one thing this E3 didn't want for, it was first-person shooters. The Electronic Arts booth in particular had Battlefield 3 Premium, Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Crysis 3 all on display, and I have to say it was... more
Again, that’s 500 rounds a goddamned second. Surprisingly enough, hands-off demos behind closed doors are typically boring, with a static crowd sitting around, watching in a cold, sound-proof room. Very rarely does that... more
Those graphics, am I right? Unlike the other shooters EA showed off, Crysis 3 actually has some great color. It seems to be a blend of Crysis and Crysis 2 in terms of setting; an "urban rainforest," as EA describes. We also s... more
Electronic Arts is demanding attention, if my inbox is anything to go by. Three separate emails, from three separate EA employees, each containing one screen for a game that'll be at E3. The three games are Dead Space 3, Crys... more
